October 2025 – The Power of Forgiveness

Greetings to you in the precious Name of our Lord Jesus.

The power of forgiveness is on my heart today. I was one, along with millions of others, who, on September 21^st, watched the memorial service for Charlie Kirk who was horribly and publicly assassinated and martyred on September 10, 2025. Charlie was first and foremost an evangelist of the Gospel. The whole memorial service was amazing. For the most part, it was like you were in an evangelistic meeting and a worship service that was honoring to God and was lifting up the Name of Jesus.

The two things that touched my heart the most during this memorial service was, firstly, the speech of Charlie’s young widow, Erika Kirk, who with tears in her eyes said of the killer: “I forgive him because it was what Christ did and it’s what Charlie would do.” That was an historic moment, as the gates of heaven opened and the presence of God descended upon the place filled with 90,000 people, most of whom with raised hands worshipping God.

The second thing that touched my heart was the speech of media journalist, Tucker Carlson, when he made a call for forgiveness and repentance and for changed hearts which he said, “comes from Jesus” and only then are we able to forgive others. Tucker said: “the only real solution is Jesus. …. The change that matters is when we repent of our sins, we, me, a recognition that the real problem is me and how fallen I am.” Millions all over the world heard the Gospel! What a blessing! We saw forgiveness is not just words, it is action.

If they hate, we love. If they injure, we forgive. We speak the truth that exposes the lies and the darkness. This is exactly what we are doing on our media programs. Our message is one of love and forgiveness, as we model Christ and His teachings. We see the power of forgiveness as we see thousands every year coming to Jesus Christ!

A powerful scriptural example of forgiveness is Joseph who forgave his brothers for their abuse and for selling him into slavery. Joseph foresaw that it was to fulfill God’s plan. It takes courage to forgive. It takes the Holy Spirit to create a new love.

The best example of forgiveness is Jesus on the cross. He forgave them while they were mocking him and saying come down from the cross so we can believe you are the Messiah, but if Jesus did that (as He had all the power to do), it would have been a disaster as there would be no salvation from sin, no atonement and no forgiveness.

Another example is Stephen, the first martyr of the Church, who, filled with the Holy Spirit, forgave them while he was being stoned. This was witnessed by Saul and resulted in a seed leading to his miraculous conversion and salvation through his encounter with the living Lord Jesus wherein the Lord changed his name to Paul, who became the greatest Apostle and inspired writer of most of the New Testament.

Hate is like a poison that kills everything in life. It warps the mind and pollutes the heart. We need to ask the Holy Spirit to create in us a new heart, a new love with the power to forgive, so that we can enjoy life and be set free from shackles and destroy the strongholds of Satan (read Colossians 3:13,14). Life is short so we must not waste it. We must forgive, show love and share the light of Jesus with others.
