+ The Jewish synagogues began with the Babylonian captivity, for the Jews wanted to preserve their identity. These synagogues were religious and spiritual centers where they could worship. They were community centers as well for different occasions. The apostle Paul always began to preach in those synagogues in his missionary journeys.
