+ After Paul fled from Damascus, he went into Arabia for three years then went to Jerusalem. Everyone was afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple. However, Barnabas encouraged him and brought him to the apostles. Paul preached among them for a while but the Jews of Jerusalem tried to kill him. Paul's calling was full of suffering and persecution.
+ The disciples were hesitant to accept Saul. He might be disappointed because he was severely persecuted in spite of his respectable status.
