+ Philippi was called after Philip of Macedon, the father of Alexander the Great. A beautiful land, rich in natural resources, it became a Roman colony where the Roman civilization prevailed such as Via Egnatia, the amphitheatres, the baths and the Roman temples. A great revival took place in that city when Paul visited it.
+ Philippi did not attract the Apostle Paul with its civilization. He did not go there to be a successful businessman.
