Day to Day (#91) - Background Info on Thessalonica

1,095

+ Founded in 315 B.C., Thessalonica was called the free city. It was the largest city in Macedonia and a very important trade centre. Paul visited this city on his second missionary journey and planted a great church there. He wrote two important letters to them. Despite all the suffering he faced there, history tells us that many churches were founded in this city.

+ The Thessalonian church had a great impact on the society.

+ How can a church be influential on a society?

+ If the people in the church are unsociable, does this conform with Jesus' teachings?
